Bilfinger Salamis UK has been awarded a £1m contract for the coating repair services on Norfolk’s Sheringham Shoal wind farm, operated by Statoil.

The three-year contract will be managed from Bilfinger’s Great Yarmouth base. The company stated it will create five new offshore positions.

Bilfinger will supply surface preparation, coating application and coating inspection services, which require specialist rope access teams who will carry out all maintenance activities on the assets.

Bilfinger Salamis UK Managing Director, Sandy Bonner, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Statoil on this contract. Bilfinger has a strong reputation in the renewables sector, having supported the design and installation of a large number of the UK’s wind farms.

“The east of England is an important hub for servicing our clients in the wind operations and maintenance market, and this win allows us to further invest in expanding our resources and capability.”

Sheringham Shoal is situated 17km off the coast of North Norfolk, and has been in operation since 2012. The project has a 316.8MW capacity and features 88 Siemens SWT-3.6-107 turbines which provide electricity for 260,000 UK homes annually.
