Dockwise, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V.,  has been awarded a contract by Lamprell Energy Ltd. for the transportation of 36 jackets foundations from its construction yard in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates to Vlissingen, the Netherlands.

The jackets form part of the turbine foundations for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm development located off the east coast of the UK. Two semi-submersible heavy transport vessels will be deployed to fulfil this contract.

Lamprell was awarded to jacket fabrication work in November 2016. The scope of works includes procurement, fabrication and supply of 60 jackets and associated piles. Of the 60 jackets, Harland and Wolff (H&W) were subcontracted to deliver 24 from its facility in Belfast. The remaining 42 jacket foundations for the project are to be delivered by Navantia at is facility in Fene, Spain.

The 714MW East Anglia ONE offshore wind power plant will be erected around 45km off the coast over an area of 300km2. The project's 102 Siemens direct-drive wind turbines of type SWT-7.0-154 will be installed on jacket foundations and the nacelles will be manufactured in Cuxhaven, Germany. Siemens plans to produce the corresponding wind turbine blades for the project at its new Hull facility.

Construction is estimated to start in 2018 with the installation of the foundations and full commissioning scheduled as early as 2020. The project is expected to meet the energy demands of 500,000 British households annually.
