Umoe Rapid completes first charter

Posted by WAVECRAFT on

The newbuild crew transfer vessel Umoe Rapid has completed its first charter at the Hywind Scotland pilot park and Dudgeon offshore wind farm for Statoil. The vessel was tasked with the transfer of cargo and personnel.

The vessel was delivered in May 2017 and is currently under commercial and operational management by World Marine Offshore. Umoe Rapid is the second WAVECRAFT vessel from Umoe Mandal AS that has carried out a charter for Statoil at the Hywind project. Previously, Umoe Firmus has worked at the project for Statoil.

The 30MW project is being developed by Statoil which aims to demonstrate the feasibility of future commercial floating offshore wind farms in deepwater sites with optimal wind conditions. The five turbine array will cover an area of about 4.2kmĀ² and is expected to provide renewable energy to 20,000 households annually.
